Vitro Architectural Glass

VacuMax™ Vacuum Insulating Glass (VIG)

Vitro Architectural Glass has further refined one of its most advanced products, VacuMax™ Vacuum Insulating Glass (VIG), to offer even better thermal performance and enhanced aesthetics. Known for its groundbreaking insulating capabilities, VacuMax™ VIG now delivers superior energy efficiency and design flexibility, making it an essential choice for architects and building professionals.

The latest generation of VacuMax™ VIG is exclusively manufactured with Solarban® 70 solar-control, low-e glass by Vitro, a leading innovation that enables an impressive 79% improvement in U-values. This upgrade allows the glass to achieve wall-like R-values of up to R20, setting a new benchmark in thermal insulation. Beyond thermal improvements, the product also features significant visual enhancements, with vacuum ports eliminated and “getters” concealed for a cleaner, more streamlined aesthetic.

Each VacuMax™ VIG unit is composed of two lites of 4mm (0.16") glass separated by a proprietary non-leaded metal edge seal and a vacuum space. Despite its advanced technology, the entire unit has a total thickness of just 8.3mm (0.33"), which is only slightly thicker than a standard 6mm (0.24") glass lite. This slim design allows the VacuMax™ VIG to be seamlessly integrated into nearly any traditional glazing system, window frame, or curtainwall application. It is available in sizes ranging from 12” x 12” (0.3m x 0.3m) to 60” x 118” (1.5m x 3.0m), providing flexibility for a wide range of projects.

The lightweight and slim construction of VacuMax™ VIG makes it particularly well-suited for retrofit projects, where it can often replace monolithic glazing in older buildings without requiring major modifications. Its innovative insulating technology delivers thermal insulation performance three to five times better than conventional insulating glass units and up to 20 times better than standard monolithic glass, significantly improving energy efficiency in buildings.

With these latest updates, VacuMax™ VIG offers architects and designers an optimal high-performance solution to achieve superior thermal insulation, reduce energy consumption, and lower operational carbon footprints. By combining cutting-edge technology with improved aesthetics, VacuMax™ VIG exemplifies a perfect balance of performance and design, ensuring a more sustainable and energy-efficient future for both new construction and retrofit applications.
