The Lattice Nexus 2™ Platform

As the low power programmable leader, sustainability is built into our mission. At Lattice, we create flexible, low power, and small form factor semiconductors known as field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs). FPGAs service a wide range of end applications and support many different standards and protocols. This functionality can be updated over time, even after systems have been deployed in the field, providing unparalleled upgrade and supply chain flexibility, and enabling faster time to market. This flexibility, coupled with Lattice's expertise in small size and power efficiency, enable our 11,000+ customers across the Automotive, Communications, Compute, Consumer, Defense, and Industrial markets to reach their sustainability goals while continuing to innovate without constraints, whether it be for smart homes, factory automation, smart cars, 5G+ telecom infrastructure, next-gen datacenters, AI PCs, and more. The Lattice Nexus & trade; 2 FPGA platform represents the latest evolution in our low power, small FPGA portfolio. It offers advanced connectivity, optimized power and performance, and class-leading security in a compact form factor. Nexus 2 enables energy-efficient processing with up to 3X lower power consumption and reliable configuration times up to 10X faster than similar class competitive devices. It supports high-speed SERDES and best-in-class device security, equipping system and application engineers to achieve power and thermal design efficiencies while enhancing security and system reliability. Additionally, Nexus 2 offers up to 5X smaller package sizes than similar class competitive devices, simplifying component placement within a system and enabling the creation of smaller footprint devices. This not only helps the system consume less power but also results in cost-effectiveness and energy efficiency, making it a suitable choice for some of the most critical technology applications of the next decade and beyond.

Lattice Nexus 2 addresses growing challenges customers face with its advanced power efficiency, edge connectivity, and data protection and security features. For example, the Nexus 2 platform enables key critical applications such as motor control robotics, automotive zonal gateways, and edge monitoring with its exceptional data throughput, memory performance, fast flash configuration, enhanced timing closure, and more parallel processing capabilities ideal for data-intensive applications. These class-leading capabilities enhance overall efficiency, safety, data integrity, device reliability, and system performance, providing greater flexibility for developers to design various applications without constraints around power, performance, size, and security. In addition, our platform-based design approach allows rapid development of multiple new product families based on a single FPGA platform. Alongside the Nexus 2 platform, we also announced the first FPGA family based on this platform, Lattice Certus™-N2. These new general-purpose FPGAs are designed to address a wide range of customer applications, providing our customers with more ways than ever before to achieve their design goals.

Lattice Nexus 2 based FPGA devices are up to 3X lower in power consumption, up to 10X faster in configuration time, and up to 5X smaller than similar class competitive devices. Their optimized performance features include fast configuration with xSPI flash boot support, fast connectivity with PCIe® Gen 4, high-speed 16G SERDES, MIPI C & D-PHY up to 7.89 Gbps, and high bandwidth memory with LPDDR4 support. Additionally, the Nexus 2 platform offers industry-leading security with post-quantum crypto agility, compliant with FIPS 140-3 level 2 standards, the most secure bitstream protection in their class, and anti-tamper protection for side-channel attacks.

The FPGA families built on the Nexus 2 platform are supported by the Lattice Radiant™ Design Software, which works cohesively with popular development tools and frameworks. This compatibility eases the learning curve for existing teams, ensuring a smoother transition. Additionally, our commitment to industry standards enhances interoperability, allowing businesses to leverage their current infrastructure. The implementation efforts of the Lattice Nexus 2 platform largely depend on specific application requirements. However, its user-friendly design and comprehensive documentation contribute to a straightforward integration process. We also offer robust customer support to help quickly solve customer challenges. The platform’s adaptability via in-field updates over time helps extend system lifecycles, reducing the need to replace them as often and thus reducing the effort needed to find, purchase, and install new systems.

Additionally, we offer a variety of application-specific solution stacks that help customers speed up the design and deployment process. By leveraging our solution stacks for factory automation with Lattice Automate™, automotive designs with Lattice Drive™, ORAN deployment with Lattice ORAN™, embedded vision with Lattice mVision™, Edge AI with Lattice sensAI™, and PFR and RoT with Lattice Sentry™, our customers can efficiently tackle their specific application needs.
